About Hostname Lookup (DNS Resolver)
A hostname lookup resolves a domain name — like example.com — into the IP addresses behind it. This is the everyday job of the Domain Name System (DNS): translating human-friendly names into the numeric addresses computers use to connect.
Resolving a hostname shows you both its IPv4 (A record) and IPv6 (AAAA record) addresses, which is useful for troubleshooting connectivity, verifying DNS changes have propagated, and understanding where a site is hosted.
How it works
- 1Enter a domain or hostname (for example, example.com).
- 2We query its A and AAAA records over DNS-over-HTTPS.
- 3The resolved IPv4 and IPv6 addresses are listed, ready to look up further.
